DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS - TOM ELLIS

The Public Works Department is located at 17112 Prime Blvd; call (815) 838-0549, option 8.

This year’s Branch Pick-Up Program will begin on Monday, May 4th.  City crews will pick up tree and shrub trimmings.  Crews can only take branches that are 3 to 10 feet in length and up to 4 inches in diameter.  This brush must not contain any stones, metal, roots, stumps, vines, willow whips, twigs and thorns.  Please stack all brush in neat, one-directional piles on the parkway near the curb, with the butt ends facing the street.  Please note, it is not necessary to phone in a pick-up request for branches.  The Public Works employees will be following a specified route and will travel through the entire City as quickly as possible.  It may take up to two weeks to have your branches picked up, as it is difficult to determine how many residents will have branches out. Therefore, sometimes it will only take a week to travel the entire City, and other times slightly longer.  You are also welcome to bring your branches to our Public Works Facility located at 17112 S. Prime Blvd.

REPORTING A WATER LEAK OR MAIN BREAK...

Please report water leaks to City Hall at 815-838-0549 or emergency after hours call WESCOM at 815-838-2131, or create a Service Request by clicking the link on the home page.

Also, due to pressure fluctuations in the system, you may experience some discolored water. The sediment in the mains causes this to occur. In the early spring, the mains will be flushed to remove the accumulated sediment. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It will take a few hours for the system to settle. Please contact the Water Dept. if the problem persists for more than a day.
