Main Street Lockport, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that serves Lockport’s historic downtown district. Preservation of the downtown district and the downtown’s important "sense of place" are crucial in today’s rapidly changing society. By maintaining the assets of the community, we can pass on Lockport’s heritage to future residents.
Following the guidelines of recapturing old values and creating a new sense of unity, the Main Street program strengthens the total image of Lockport. An active and vital downtown area helps to increase the city’s quality of life. Even more important is that Main Street Lockport is community orientated. Its activities are performed by volunteers who donate their time to Main Street Lockport. Additionally, the fifteen member Board of Directors oversees five standing committees.
Main Street Lockport’s primary purpose is to provide education and professional service to the downtown community by promoting historic preservation, economic restructuring, image enhancement, and community involvement. The ultimate focus of Main Street Lockport’s work is downtown revitalization that preserves and capitalizes on the historic character of the downtown and ensures its economic future.
Main Street Lockport, Inc., is looking for more volunteers to continue our strong tradition of community involvement. In addition to the various committees, we also need people who would like to donate their services, expertise or time to our special events.
